Museum collections include 177.000 exhibits, presenting local flora and fauna, history of the region’s development, and culture of indigenous and Slavic people. There are two departments: Far Eastern Natural Resources and Ethnical Department. All wild animals of Far Eastern forests like brown bear, tiger, the trothy of sturgeon, national Nanai and other people houses, clothes, boats, fishing equipments are presented in there.
Founded on 19 April 1894 by the Russian Geographic Society Priamur Branch, it was named after N. Grodekov, Governor General and honorary citizen of Khabarovsk, when the museum turned 100 eight years ago. In 2000, the museum was hailed as the best city museum in the national contest " Window to Russia".
