Area Name: Koppy River, Sovetskaya Gavan District in Khabarovskiy Region, Far East of Russia

Area Description: One of the most beautiful mountain rivers of this region, flows from the Southeast of Sikhote-Alin Mountains into the Tatar Straight. The average depths of the river is 1,5 – 2,0 meters, in some places about 3,0 meters and more. The length of the river
is about 219 km and goes from 40 – 60 meters wide to 1,0 – 1,5 km in river’s mouth.

The best Season for taimen: end of May - June
Taimen: A relatively unknown fish to the west, few have had the chance to land one of the worlds largest fresh water fish. If your looking for a great fishing adventure - read one. Taimen live in large, flowing, cool rivers with deeo pools. It is primarily an ambush predator and a voracious feeder eating rodents, lemmings and a variety of smaller fish.

Cherry salmon: the end of May – June)
It is the only kind of Pacific salmon, which can be met only along the Asian coast. Externally, sima is very much looks like kisutsch. The only difference is its anal fin and dark cross strips on its body. Sima reaches 63 cm length and 6 kg weight. The spawning period occurs at the same time with the the hunchaback salmon, with which people often mix it. Young sima lives in a fresh water up to the year and more; maturity comes in the 3rd-4th year of life

Gorbusha: June – July
Lodge location: 1,5 km from the river mouth into Tatar Strait.
Tackles & Fishing method: large streamer flies, surface and swimming plugs, spoons and spinners; fishing from the boat or river bank.
